M1 Garand Bayonet, AFH m.1905E1

Description

An original bayonet for the M1 Garand service rifle. This bayonet was made in 1943 by American Fork and Hoe, as a model1905 type 2, a 16 inch blade. Starting in 1944 these bayonets were recalled and altered to a 10 inch blade, becoming a  model 1905E1. This one was cut down to form a spear point. Bayonet has the markings of AFH and 1943 on obverse, reverse unmarked. Marked AFH on top of handle between grips, American Fork and Hoe stamped this marking when they did the alteration work.
Bayonet blade retains some of the Parkerized color with one very small nick. Plastic handle grips are nice and smooth in hand.
The scabbard is a war time modified M3 type. This originally 16 inch scabbard was shortened to 10 inches to conform with the 10 inch bayonet.
Bayonet functions well, and mounts on a M1 rifle with ease.
