Nice 1950's Canadian Pacific Pilot Hat Badge

Description

ARTIFACT: Nice 1950's Canadian Pacific pilot hat badge. The hat badge is two-piece construction, with a lovely blue and white enameled center that reads: "CANADIAN PACIFIC" in gilt lettering and a blue enameled company logo, a stylized Canadian goose in gilt brass affixed to the center with a post and screwback. Originally established by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, Canadian Pacific (CP) airlines was in operation at the Vancouver International Airport from the 1940's to the mid 1980's originally as the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. The airline was most known for their Far East 'polar loop' with regular routes to Amsterdam, Australia, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. CP was compelled to develop alternative routes because government-owned Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) restricted domestic and international routes such as Vancouver to Toronto and Toronto to New York. The airline was purchased by Pacific Western Airlines in 1987 and was absorbed into Canadian Airlines International.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The hat badge shows minor to moderate wear mostly to high points, small fractures in enamel on company logo (does not detract much), some of the enamel and gilt brass details remain fully intact, overall excellent condition.
